The wet suits are made from ActionTX™. They are manufactured in various grades of ActionTX™ dependent on the level of protection required and warmth require. We manufacture the material and the suits in our factory.
Our wet suits provide significant protection from cut, rock abrasion, reef rash, fin chop, marine animal sting and shark bite. The heavier the grade of ActionTX™ the greater the level of protection. The garments cannot totally protect you from every hazard or shark. They have undergone independent scientific peer reviewed testing that concluded our material significantly reduces penetration, cut depth and length to our fabric and therefore may reduce blood loss, which is the major cause of death and serious injury. When combined with fast access to medial attention, these garments are the most practical protection from the hazards associated with surfing, diving and water sports. Our garments are designed to significantly reduce harm.
Yes the suit has 2 way stretch. The stretch is primarily across the body where it is need most to aid flexibility. The stretch is about 100% depending on the grade of ActionTX™ used. Stretch reduces the material's effectiveness against cutting and penetrating events. We have struck the best balance between stretch and protection level.
Absolutely yes. We use lighter grade ActionTX™ typically 200 - 556 gsm with 2 way stretch. We use different lighter grade panel under the arms, behind the knees, in the elbows and in the crotch. The panels help with mobility.
The weight of the suit depends upon the size and grade (measured in gsm) of material used. The higher the gsm the greater the density of material and so the greater the weight. The garments are slightly heavier than a normal wet suit. For example, a regular factory 3/2 suit can weigh just under 1 kg, whereas a Powderworks Surf Wear ™suit weighs just under 2.25 kg.
ActionTX™ is a composite material manufactured from a unique laminate of synthetic recyclable fibres. Our material’s composition can be modified for bespoke use cases such as industrial liners and fabric for protective clothing.
ActionTX™ is currently commercialised in Powderworks Surf Wear™ wet suits and Oxley Highway motorcycle protective apparel, denim blends, apparel liners, PM13 Tactical tactical ballistic and stab resistant protective clothing.
Our material composites can modified to be rigid or stretchy, cut, slash, abrasion, fire and heat resistant.
ActionTX™ is CE certified using the EN388: 2016 test methodology. You can learn more about the testing here
EN388 is a compilation of 4 tests; abrasion; cut; tear, and puncture to determine the protection levels of a single layer or multiple layers of fabric. The result of the test provides a CE certification. It is most frequently used in European markets, but has been making its way into Australia and the United States as a widely accepted standard for measuring protective properties of industrial Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Test Performance & Rating
